Guide of Tools and Resources: Paving the Way to a Livable Life

We present "Paving the Way to a Livable Life: A Guide of Tools and Resources for Addressing Self-Harm and Suicide in the Socio-Educational Field," born from the collaboration between the PDA Bullying Platform and Equip SEER, with the support of the Xarxa de Drets de la Infància, SAIF, the Peruvian Society of Suicidology, the Mental Health Department of the Barcelona City Council, and ACISE-ACEESE.

Paving the Way to a Livable Life

This guide of tools and resources for addressing self-harm and suicide within the socio-educational field was created with the aim of focusing on the support and understanding of the realities and challenges of emotional and mental health, particularly suicide and the various contexts associated with it.

It is a proposal designed to provide tools to respond to the current reality in which, as facilitators of socio-emotional processes within educational contexts, we are increasingly encountering situations that require support.

We invite you to read this guide with a profound sense of responsibility for life and deep respect for loss—respect for the pain that arises from the helplessness of feeling unprepared to support moments of intense difficulty such as suicide, and respect for the immense courage it takes to face these situations with the tools available at each stage of life.

Since this guide is intended for professionals in the socio-educational field, we encourage you to use the tools provided here, understanding that professionals are individuals who bring their humanity and the strength of the institution they represent to their work, likely driven by a genuine desire to accompany others with presence and care. This is especially vital for those who have bonds of trust and affection with individuals navigating moments of difficulty caused by self-harm, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, or suicide itself.
